Aqua fought Terra-Xehanort, and tried to save his heart, but she failed, and got trapped in the Realm of Darkness, where she wandered for a decade until she was found by King Mickey, who requested her help to open the door between the realms of light and darkness.
After the battle, Ventus' heart was damaged beyond repair, and Aqua took him to the ruins of the Land of Departure, where Aqua locked him up to protect him from Xehanort, who had taken over Terra's body. Aqua was forced to fight Vanitas, who had taken control of Ventus' body. Aqua was assigned to go after Ventus, while also keeping an eye on Terra's darkness-infected heart.Īfter travelling through many worlds while fighting the Unversed, Aqua found out that Xehanort wanted to take control of Terra's body and use Ventus' heart in order to create the χ-blade, a weapon with a power equal to that of Kingdom Hearts. The day after the exam, Terra left the Land of Departure in order to eliminate the threat of the Unversed, and Ventus followed him without Eraqus' permission. This turned out to be the case for Terra, who failed the exam, while Aqua was able to pass and become a Keyblade Master. When the time to take the Mark of Mastery exam came, they received a visit from Master Xehanort, who secretly interfered with the exam in order to see if Aqua or Terra had any darkness within them. She lived alongside her master, Terra, and Ventus in the Land of Departure, where they trained every day. Aqua is then seen at the fixed bridge.Aqua is one of the apprentices of Master Eraqus. She hits the gears with her Keyblade, which causes time to go back one hour. As she thinks, gears start to appear in front of her. She finds her way to the bridge of the castle but it, unfortunately, disappears into nothing. She reflects on everything that happened to her and her friends in Birth by Sleep. Aqua defeats some Heartless and begins approaching the Castle of Dreams. Sora then remembers meeting Aqua when he was young in Birth by Sleep. They actually turn out to be Aqua and Terra. Xigbar mentions the other Keyblade wielders, referencing Aqua and her friends.ĭuring Dream Drop Distance, Sora sees a vision of his best friends Kairi and Riku. In the World That Never Was, Sora speaks with Xigbar. Xemnas, leader of Organization XIII, talks to the armor throughout the game. She enables him to leave but sacrifices herself and is stuck in the Realm of Darkness. Once defeated, he falls into Darkness but Aqua jumps in after him. Upon finding him in Radiant Garden, she discovers that he is being possessed by Master Xehanort, and he engages in a fight with her. In the final battle, she and King Mickey fought Vanitas, who had possessed Ven, defeating him in the end.Īfter placing Ven in Castle Oblivion, a place that she created, she looks for Terra. She is also forced to face Vanitas, the darkness from Ventus' heart, on a few occasions and learns the truth of Ventus' existence. She tells Sora to save Riku if ever falls to the Darkness. Along the way, she visits the Destiny Islands and meets the young Sora and Riku. Throughout her journey, she pursues Terra, trying to bring him back. Aqua is like Ven's older sister to him and she is always taking care of him. She serves under Master Eraqus as a student and is the only one out of Ventus (still too young), Terra, and herself to pass the Mark of Mastery exam at the beginning of Birth by Sleep. She is very stoic but also filled with justice and always does what's right. She has the aspect of creating lucky charms for her friends like Kairi but is also self-sacrificing like Sora.
